Born in Hull a long time ago, Ted was the given school nick name of Anthony Matthew Key. Most famously he was the original bass player and songwriter in the successful pop group, The Housemartins. He chose to avoid any fame and fortune by leaving the band at the end of 1985.
The reasons are shrouded in mystery and the subject of a forthcoming biography.
